Introducing e-Commerce 2.0

Consumers today shop online for all their daily needs and expect to have those items delivered to their doorstep.  But groceries cannot be dropped in a cardboard box and delivered through the mail.  Groceries need a new logistics platform.

Welcome to e-Commerce 2.0: a system of connected, temperature-controlled delivery containers.  The Acorn micro-containers are an end-to-end cold chain solution for grocery delivery orders.

Features:

• Reduced delivery costs

• Reliable cold chain

• Deliver anytime – no delivery windows

• Secure from theft

Containerizing last mile delivery

In the 1950’s ships spent more time in port than at sea.  Thousands of longshoreman manually loaded and unloaded ships into dockside warehouses, then manually loaded items from the warehouses onto trucks and trains.  The shipping container revolutionized transoceanic shipping by unlocking automated handling, reducing theft, and leveraging scale.

E-commerce 1.0 is a one-way flow of cardboard boxes.  E-commerce 2.0 is a two-way network of connected containers.  Goods can be delivered anywhere, anytime – from retailers to homes, from homes to other homes or any location.
